The Label Industry Global Awards 2024 ceremony was held on the first night of the Labelexpo Americas 2024 exhibition at Parkway Bank Park in Rosemont, Illinois. The final winners of the four awards were announced.
The R. Stanton Avery Special Recognition Award, sponsored by Avery Dennison, was presented to Ferdinand R ü escu IV, Senior Vice President of Global Key Accounts at Gallus Ferd. R ü escu AG, who is known as Ferdi in the industry. This award recognizes outstanding individuals who reflect the core values and vision of Stan Avery, the founder of the label industry.
Ryan Yost, President of Avery Dennison Materials Group, said, "Ferdi took over the business of Jelars Group from his father in the 1990s, accelerating Jelars' global growth. Paul Teachout, a technology marketing and content expert at Harper's in the United States, has won the Global Achievement Award. This award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the label industry both domestically and internationally.
The Label Award jury stated that Teachout has made extensive contributions to the label industry throughout its over 40 year career. The judges specifically pointed out that Teachout works tirelessly to make the label industry a career for students and young people, and he promotes standards in the global flexographic printing industry through FTA, TLMI, and Harper's Corporation.
SmartSolve's Chief Revenue Officer Alex Abbott has been awarded the Rising Star Award sponsored by Avery Dennison. This award recognizes the achievements of emerging talents in the label and packaging industry who represent the next generation of industry leaders.
Since Abbott joined SmartSolve, a sustainable materials expert, in June 2023, his significant impact has left a deep impression on the judges. The review panel pointed out that he pioneered the APR Design for Recyclability Recognition certification for SmartSolve's labels, demonstrating his forward thinking leadership and potential for further development.
The Annual Processing Enterprise Award was awarded to NextGen Label Group. The judges were impressed by NexGen Label Group's consistent track record in developing its staff, supporting close engagement with local communities, outstanding sustainability initiatives, and customer-centric, innovative, and cost-effective packaging solutions.
